Sir,
Enclosure 2
C.O.
310 Read 398
Chief Justice's Chambers.
Supreme Court House.
Hongkong, 22nd November, 1894.
Having heard that the members of the Civil Service will, in consequence of a telegram received from the Secretary of State, be again called upon to state whether they accept the offer of His Lordship respecting compensation for loss on exchange, I have the honour to state that before I can arrive at any decision I would desire further information as to when the increased compensation will date from, and what sum I would receive for the same; also at what rate my salary would be paid in England supposing I took four months' leave on full pay.
If Your Excellency would kindly direct that this information be furnished to me, I would then be able to decide whether I accept the proposal or not.
I have, &c.,

Acting Chief Justice.
His Excellency
The Governor.
